Buildxact's takeoff tool has multiple functionalities and resources designed to make your takeoffs easier and more accurate.

In this help guide we'll take you through the simple steps needed to complete a takeoff using the Buildxact takeoff tool. We'll also explain the different features of the takeoff toolbar.

To complete a takeoff you need to first upload a .pdf file of your plan. Note that the platform supports a maximum number of 20 pages in your plan file. Once you've uploaded your plan, you can get started:

  1. Select a scale from the drop-down menu or select to manually scale your plans.

  2. You can choose to apply this scale to a single page of your plans or to the pages throughout.

  3. To ensure your scale is correct manually draw a line on your plan and check the measurement.

  4. To measure the line, click your cursor once from one corner and again at the other end. The measurement will appear on screen.

  5. If you're happy with the sample measurement you can click on the Start Measuring button.

  3. Circle โ€“ for circular shapes.

  4. Line - for lining walls.

  5. Deduction - for deducting areas you don't want included in measurement. E.g. doors and windows.

  6. Color - allows you to use different colors on the plans to highlight different measurements.

  7. Angle/Pitch - enter the roof pitch here before you start drawing your roofing material. You can enter the rise and run or the degree.

  8. Undo - The ''undo'' button deletes your last drawing.
