The Take-Off toolbar provides all the tools you need to measure, edit, and manage measurements directly on your plans.

The toolbar is the same whether you access Take-Offs from Estimate Costings using the Take-Off tool (speed square icon) or from Plans & Take-Offs by selecting Launch Take-Offs.

When starting from Estimate Costings, the measurement type is automatically carried across from the cost line, making it a quicker workflow. If you start from Plans & Take-Offs, you will need to add the measurement type before beginning your take-off.

Before starting your take-off, you need to select what you are measuring.

For example, if you are measuring flooring, you can select the measurement type and choose the unit:

The measurement process works the same regardless of the unit selected.

The Polygon tool allows you to create multi-point shapes for irregular areas.

To use it:

Tip: If you click somewhere by mistake while drawing, press Escape to undo the current drawing action.

The Rectangle tool allows you to quickly measure simple square or rectangular areas.

The Circle tool allows you to measure circular or oval shapes.

While less commonly used, it can be useful for specific plan elements.

The Line tool is used for continuous linear measurements.

It can be used for:

For area-based measurements, the line tool can also include a height value.

For example, measuring an 8-foot-high wall will calculate the total area based on the line length and the entered height.

To finish a line measurement:

The Deduction tool allows you to remove areas from an existing measurement.

A recommended workflow is:

This helps avoid accidentally leaving the deduction mode enabled and removing areas unintentionally.

The drawing colour option allows you to choose the colour of new measurements.

To change an existing measurement colour:

The Pitch tool allows you to apply an angle to measurements.

This is most commonly used for roofs.

For example, if a roof has a 5:12 pitch, Take-Offs can measure the flat area and then calculate the actual surface area based on the roof angle.

Pitch can be applied to:

Line thickness changes how visible your measurement lines appear.

This does not affect the calculation.

Increasing line thickness can make measurements easier to see, especially when:

The Point Edit tool allows you to modify measurements after they have been created.

This is especially useful for adjusting complex polygon shapes without having to redraw them.

Undo removes your most recent drawing action.

You can also remove measurements by selecting their labels.

If measurement labels are covering parts of your plan, you can use the label visibility option to hide them.

The toolbar includes several viewing options:

Delete removes all drawings from the current plan page.

This only affects the page you are currently viewing and does not remove measurements from other pages.

Save and Close saves your take-offs and exits the measurement screen.

Take-Off Assistant is an automatic measurement tool available on eligible plans.

Take-Off Assistant scans your plan and identifies areas or perimeters automatically.

It can be used for measurements such as:

The accuracy of Take-Off Assistant depends heavily on the quality of the uploaded plans.

Plans with:

will generally produce better results.

Poor-quality or unclear plans may reduce accuracy because the system has less information to identify walls and areas correctly.
