This feature is currently in beta.
Advanced takeoffs are being rolled out by region and plan group, so not all users will have them yet. If you don't see Advanced takeoffs in the Takeoff Assistant menu, they aren't available in your account yet. Functionality may change as the feature develops.
Advanced takeoffs let the Blu: Takeoff Assistant measure a whole floor plan page for you, picking up far more detail than the floor area and perimeter options alone.
Watch the video below to see this in action, or continue reading for step-by-step details.
What advanced takeoffs measure
A complete floor-plan takeoff measures the whole page in one go and can return dozens of measurements, including:
Areas, perimeters and lengths, such as a deck and the deck perimeter.
Counts of fixtures and openings, such as bifold doors, toilets, baths and cooktops.
Coming soon: Elevations
Advanced takeoffs currently measure floor plans. An elevations version, which will also identify external finishes and materials, is coming soon.
Run an advanced takeoff
Go to Estimates and open your estimate.
Click the Plans & Takeoffs tab and open your floor plan page. If you haven't loaded your plans yet, upload them first.
Click the Takeoff Assistant button at the top.
In the Advanced takeoffs section, select Complete floor-plan takeoff.
Wait while Blu measures the page. This takes a couple of minutes. Click Keep working if you want to do other things while it finishes.
Review your measurements
Blu will cut a significant amount of work out of your takeoff, but AI isn't perfect, so check the results before you use them for real.
Measurements are grouped by plan page in the measurements panel.
Switch measurements on to see them all on the drawing at once, or switch them off when you want a clearer view.
Select a measurement to highlight its shape on the drawing.
Adjust any shape with the point edit tool, without starting over.
