Use the Blue Estimate Reviewer

Review your estimates with AI-powered checks and suggestions.

Written by Kalya Ryan

Buildxact's Blue Estimate Reviewer helps you identify potential missing costs, risks, and items to review before sending your quote to your customer.

Watch the video below for a full walkthrough, or scroll down for step-by-step instructions on specific actions.

Open the Estimate Reviewer

The Estimate Reviewer is available from within your estimate.

To open it:

  1. Open an estimate.

  2. Select Estimate Review from the right-hand panel.

  3. Review the suggested checks and recommendations.

The Estimate Reviewer is part of Blue, Buildxact's AI-powered feature set.

Complete the estimate details

Before running the review, provide additional information about your project.

The Estimate Reviewer uses this information to provide more relevant suggestions.

Add project information

Review and complete details such as:

  • Type of work

  • Project address

  • Areas involved

  • Project description

  • Project size or square footage

  • Environmental risks

  • Site concerns

If you need to check information while completing the review, you can close the panel and return to other areas of Buildxact. Your progress will be saved.

Review estimate suggestions

The Estimate Reviewer provides a checklist of items to review.

Suggestions may include:

  • Missing costs

  • Potential compliance requirements

  • Safety considerations

  • Materials or quantities to verify

  • Site-specific risks

Review each suggestion and decide whether it applies to your project.

Mark items as complete

Once you have reviewed a suggestion:

  1. Open the suggestion.

  2. Confirm whether it applies.

  3. Select Complete when finished.

Completed items are moved into your completed list so you can track what has been reviewed.

Add missing costs

The Estimate Reviewer may identify items that have not been included in your estimate.

For example:

  • Waste management costs

  • Safety equipment

  • Additional materials

  • Labour requirements

Use these suggestions as prompts to check your estimate and add any missing items if required.

Use suggestions as a checklist

The Estimate Reviewer is designed to help you review your estimate, not replace your judgement.

Suggestions may include items that do not apply to every project.

For example:

  • A compliance requirement may depend on your location.

  • Safety requirements may vary depending on the work being completed.

  • Material recommendations may depend on the project type.

Review each item and decide whether it applies to your specific job.

When to use the Estimate Reviewer

It is recommended to run the Estimate Reviewer before sending your quote to the customer.

Using the reviewer as a final checklist can help you identify:

  • Forgotten costs

  • Potential risks

  • Missing information

  • Items requiring further investigation

Tips

  • Complete the project details for more relevant suggestions.

  • Check your estimate reviewer results before sending a quote.

  • Use suggestions as prompts to review your estimate rather than automatically accepting every recommendation.

  • Mark completed items as you work through the checklist.
