Which app do I download?
So, if you've searched for Deputy on the App or Play store (or anywhere else) you've probably noticed there are two, as shown below.
We recommend the "Deputy: Roster and Shift Planner" app which has more features and is better suited to construction.
The "Deputy Kiosk" app is designed for a single iPad setup within a restaurant for example, where ALL staff clock in/out using that one iPad.

How do staff log time using the start/stop method?
In this method, staff members hit start at the beginning of their work and stop at the end. The rest is worked out for you.
In these diagrams we've used a red box and number for an action, and a yellow highlight for something helpful but optional.
1. Start unscheduled shift
2. Use the search if needed, find the area you're working at, this should be the task name and be under the right job number/name.
β
3. Deputy will check your location relative to the job site address. Add a comment if you need and hit submit.
4. During the shift you can hit the area down arrow to add notes or make minor changes. Note: you cannot change the area of work during a shift. If you need to log a break you can do that with the start break button, and finish it with the end break button which will show in the same spot. To end the shift fully hit the red X.

5. When you end the shift Deputy will check your location relative to the job site address. Add a comment or a meal break if you need and hit submit.
How do staff log time using the 'end of the day' method?
This is the method where staff members enter their shift at the end of the workday, or week. Note all shifts go to get approved before anything happens with them.
In these diagrams we've used a red box and number for an action, and a yellow highlight for something helpful but optional.
1. Click timesheets down the bottom of the app
2. Click the plus in the top right
3. Find an area of work, this is the exact same process as step 2 in the start/stop method
4. Add a shift date
5. Add a start and end time, along with any breaks you need to log, plus any notes you need to log about the work done.
6. Click add.
