How do I use the Blu Style Assistant in Buildxact?

Style your quote letter by describing what you want

Written by Dan C

The Blu Style Assistant is a new AI-powered quote letter layout. Instead of ticking settings on and off and using advanced editing to change wording or colors, you describe what you want and Blu makes the change for you. This article explains how to switch to it, what it can do, and what's coming next.

Watch the video below to see this in action, or continue reading for step-by-step details.

Why we've added the Style Assistant

The existing quote letter layouts have served well for the last couple of years, but more and more users want styling that's better looking and simpler to change. Rather than adjusting everything manually, the Style Assistant lets you say what you want and have it done for you.

Switch to the Style Assistant layout

When you open an estimate and go into Prepare Quote, you'll see the Style Assistant layout with the chat box on the right.

If you don't, click Select a Different Layout and choose one of the layouts with the Style Assistant icon on it.

Keep using your existing templates

If you've built quote templates you're happy with, you can keep using them. They're still available, and you can switch back to the Customisable Layout at any time from Select a Different Layout.

Describe the changes you want

With a Style Assistant layout selected, use the chat panel on the right to describe the change you want to make, and Blu updates your quote letter. Here are some examples of what you can ask for:

  • Add images: give it a link to an image and ask for it on the cover page, in the cover letter or elsewhere in the quote.

  • Hide columns: ask it to hide columns you don't want to show. The remaining text now flows across the full width, so there's no leftover blank space where the column used to be.

  • Remove tax wording: useful if you'd rather not show or mention tax on your quote, which is common in North America.

  • Update terms and conditions: ask it to review your terms and conditions and make sure they're current.

  • Change the styling: for example, ask for warmer colors.

These are just a starting point. Try out your own ideas to see what it can do for your quotes.

Tip: as with any AI feature, check your quote letter before you send it to make sure the changes look the way you expect.

What's coming next

This is the first version of the Style Assistant, and we'll keep improving it. Updates we're working on include:

  • Smarter choosing and sourcing of images for you.

  • Quickly matching your existing quote style, so the Style Assistant can adjust itself to look like your previous quotes.

We'd love your feedback as you try it out.
