How do I use the Blu: Recipe Assistant?
Use the Blu: Recipe assistant to get accurate items, prices and quantities directly from your supplier. Simply prompt the tool with your requirements and measurements and Blu will gather your items and prices from your preferred supplier, ready for you to add to your estimate.
Please note: you can also use the Blu: Recipe Assistant if you're not connected to a supplier, just select the Generic supplier option.
Navigate to your chosen estimate via the left-hand menu.
Click on the Estimate Costings tab.
Select the category requiring a recipe.
Click on the category item.
Click the Blu: Recipe Assistant button.
Type a description of your requirements in the textbox.
Alternatively, use one of the Blu suggested descriptions. Clicking on the suggestion will populate the description text box. Note: you can save your prompts and view your recent prompts so you can use them again in different jobs. It's also possible to include a prompt for labor as well as materials.
Enter your measurement. This can be imported from your takeoff by clicking the takeoff button and can also be calculated using the calculator button if needed.
Choose your unit of measurement (UOM) from the drop-down box.
If you are not connected to any supplier, Blu will use data from Buildxact's generic supplier catalogue. If you want to use prices from your connected supplier, click here and select your supplier from the drop-down list of suppliers.
Click Generate items.
It takes approximately 30 seconds for Blu to source the information. The following pop-up will keep you informed of the progress and allow you to stop generating if needed.
When the upload is complete you will see a list of your Blu generated items.
This includes a description of the item, the type, quantity, UOM, unit cost and total price.
You will also see a list of assumptions made by Blu in order to calculate the items. Please note that it's important for you to do your due diligence on the cost of these items and that the 'each' quantities are correct in relation to the UOM to ensure accuracy.
You can choose to add these items to your estimate costings as single line items by clicking Add, or as an assembly by clicking Add as assembly, where the items will appear under a single line item in your estimate costings.
Once you've clicked add, your items will immediately appear within your estimate costings.
