Start by entering your project details and a location and Blu will create a complete, editable estimate.

Follow these steps to begin using the Blu: Estimate generator:

  1. Navigate to Estimates.

  2. Click on Create New.

3. Select Blu: Estimate Generator.

On the following screen, you can describe your project to instantly generate an estimate - or choose from Buildxact's ready-made template prompts tested with real supplier pricing and powered by local data on labor, materials, and services.

  1. Begin typing within the Describe your project text box if you know details of your project. Keep the following in mind when creating prompts for AI:

  • Note specific items. If it’s not mentioned, it might not appear.

  • Ensure measurements are in the correct unit system.

  • Include the size, color and level of quality for key items (tiles, vanities, fixtures, etc.).

  • Use generic and clear terms for items (e.g., ‘freestanding tub’ instead of a brand name).

2. Include the location of your project to help make your quote more accurate.

3. Select a connected dealer/supplier or use Buildxact's generic catalog for industry standard pricing.

4. Enable voice-to-text if you prefer speaking over typing.

5. Select one of the project type prompts to use - these prompts will auto fill the Describe your project text box above. You are free to delete, edit and/or change the prompt.

6. Click on Blu: Estimate Generator.

As an example, we've selected Roofing Works project type. The Estimate Generator will be looking at materials, labor, permits, project management fees, hire items and more. You can stop the estimate generation at any time by clicking Stop generating.

When the Blu: Estimate Generator is complete, find your estimate under Estimate Costings. All the items are displayed, along with material types and quantities. Quote totals are displayed at the bottom of the screen. The quote is fully editable and can be changed and updated if needed before sending to your client.
