How do I link a category in my Buildxact job to a Deputy area?

Learn how to link your Deputy areas to Buildxact job categories to improve the efficiency and accuracy of your cost tracking

Please note: linking from the Imported Timesheets area is only possible with Advanced sync enabled. Otherwise, linking can be done within your job details.

Toggle on Advanced sync by navigating to Buildxact Integrations > Deputy > Configure settings > Advanced sync and clicking Save. See below.

The following steps show how to link Deputy areas to categories in your Buildxact jobs:

  1. Navigate to the Jobs section in Buildxact and click on Imported Timesheets.

  2. Click on Settings.

Select Manage Locations & Areas.

To link your job categories to a Deputy area, select the job and click on the three dots to the right of the job name. Select Manage areas.

The Deputy linked job will show the categories available to be linked under Categories mapped to area. Click the Create area button next to the category you're looking to link.

The job will now show the category pre-filled with the linked area from Deputy.

Linking Deputy areas with the Basic Sync integration

You can link your job to a Deputy area using the Basic Sync integration (without using Advanced Sync) by navigating to an individual job and clicking on the Job Details tab.

Scroll down to the Integrations panel and click on the three dots next to the linked Deputy project. You then select Manage areas and follow the same steps as above.
